We’re looking for someone with a passion for the continuous improvement of software, systems and our customer experiences, has a keen eye for detail and who’ll enjoy working with other technical experts in a friendly, informal environment, which values quality, innovation and creativity.
What you'll do
This is a new role, to help our R&D team meet a challenging and exciting delivery schedule at the heart of the work we do expanding the world of Sage, where our very own innovative Fusion products and applications take shape, products that extend the core functionality of Sage 200, Sage 1000 and Sage Enterprise Management to provide our customers with transformative additions that can set them apart from their competitors.
You’ll dive into the thick of it with one of our agile teams with the initial phases of the project focusing on server-side development but with more client facing development gradually phased in. You’ll work with other members of the team to define the functionality, estimate the effort and develop high quality software, working with the engineers to identify any bugs that might creep in. You’ll also need to help maintain any documentation.
You will need to create test plans and execute against these, making sure all issues and risks are raised and managed to completion. You’ll also take accountability for your test related activities, accurately recording and communicating risks and issues found along with the production of test metrics.
The team dynamic is a strong one – you’ll enhance this with your own personality whilst focusing on the task of helping the team deliver a quality product on time and within budget.
What to bring
We’re looking for someone with a strong attention to detail – someone who can not only determine that there’s a needle in the haystack, but can actually find the needle and work with the team to remove it before a customer is spiked.
Multi-tasking is a must – you can effectively manage your tasks and prioritize, meeting your deadlines. You’ll also have clear verbal and written communication skills – once you’ve found the needle, you need to make sure you can describe how you found it to the team.
You’re also going to need to have worked in an agile environment and have participated in all phases of a project lifecycle with an emphasis on quality. If you have previous experience of working with Sage software then great, but don’t worry if you haven’t – an understanding of other business systems will be fine. We are predominantly manual test focused, but if you have an awareness of automated test tools and activities, then great – we are always looking at ways to improve.
Our engineers are problem solvers, coming up with creative solutions to challenging problems. You must be passionate about your work with a desire to make a difference for our customers.
We want team players, people that are willing to support their colleagues, facing challenges as a team and delivering success as a team. We care about what we do and we want like-minded people to join us on our journey.
What we offer in return
This role offers an opportunity to be either home based or office based if you live within commuting distance to either our Warrington or Leeds offices. If home based, you’ll only need to visit the office two to three times a month for meetings, training and catching up with the team.
As well as a competitive salary and home working, this role gives you the opportunity to build your knowledge and skills, discover and work with new tech, and be part of a team with extensive experience in product development, design and management.
You’ll be working in a talented team headed up by Tim Purcell who is passionate about delivering successful projects that deliver real business transformation, achieving the seemingly impossible every day.
