QA Engineer

We are looking for a QA Engineer to join our R&D team.

Location: Hybrid

Job details

Our R&D team are looking for a driven and enthusiastic QA Engineer to join them.

What You'll Do

This role will assist our R&D team with meeting challenging software delivery schedules at the heart of the work we do expanding the world of Sage. We are looking for an individual who will work as a key team player contributing to continuously raising our software standards and product quality. Our very own range of innovative Fusion products and applications extend the core functionality of Sage 200, Sage Intacct and Sage X3 to provide our customers with transformative software additions that can set them apart from their competitors.

You’ll dive into the thick of it with one of our agile teams and you will be expected to communicate with stakeholders to understand product requirements. There will be a focus on both server-side and client facing development. You will work with other members of the team to define software functionality, estimate the effort and develop high quality software, working with the engineers to identify any bugs that might creep in. You’ll also need to contribute to maintaining our detailed Fusion product documentation.

You will be responsible for creating and maintaining test plans executing against these, making sure all issues and risks are raised and managed to completion. You’ll also take accountability for your test related activities, accurately recording and communicating risks and issues found, along with the production of test metrics.

What To Bring

The team dynamic is a strong one – and it is important that you embrace this and enhance it with your own personality whilst focusing on the task of helping the team deliver a quality product on time and within budget. You will require good critical thinking skills to determine risk with software issues. Excellent time management skills are essential with the ability to adapt to changing demands where necessary.

We’re looking for someone with a passion for the continuous improvement of our software. Candidates must embrace failure as an opportunity for growth and feedback, they must have a drive to contribute to our customer success and a keen eye for detail - someone who can not only determine that there’s a needle in the haystack, but can actually find the needle and work with the team to remove it before a customer is spiked.

You will need to effectively manage your tasks and priorities, meeting your deadlines. A knowledge of Azure DevOps is desirable but not essential. You will need to have clear verbal and written communication skills – once you have found the needle, you need to make sure you can describe how you found it to the team.

Experience working in an agile environment is desirable participating in phases of a project with an emphasis on quality. If you have previous experience of working with Sage software then great, but don’t worry if you haven’t – an understanding of other business systems will be fine. We are predominantly manual test focused, but if you have an awareness of automated test tools and activities, then great – we are always looking at ways to improve.

Our engineers are problem solvers, coming up with creative solutions to challenging problems. You must be passionate about your work with a desire to make a difference for our customers.

We want team players, people that are willing to support their colleagues, challenges are faced as a team and success is delivered as a team. We care about what we do, and we want like-minded people to join us on our journey.
