Software Developer

Software Developer

This is a new role, to help our R&D team meet a challenging and exciting delivery schedule at the heart of the work we do expanding the world of Sage, where our very own innovative Fusion products and applications take shape.

Datel’s Fusion products extend the core functionality of Sage 200, Sage 1000 and Sage Enterprise Management to provide our customers with transformative additions that can set them apart from their competitors.

It’s high-quality opportunity to work in an innovative development team with an excellent technology stack including C#, MVC, web APIs, Java, node.js, Javascript to name a few!

We’re looking for someone with a keen interest in technology and software development, who’ll enjoy working with other technical experts in a friendly, informal environment, which values quality, innovation and creativity.

What you'll do

You’ll dive into the thick of it with one of our agile teams with the initial phases of the project focusing on server-side development but with more client facing development gradually phased in. You’ll work with other members of the team to define the functionality, estimate the effort and develop high-quality software, working with the QA to identify and squash any bugs that might creep in.  You’ll also need to help maintain any documentation.

The team dynamic is a strong one – you’ll enhance this with your own personality whilst focusing on the task of helping the team deliver a quality product on time and within budget.

What to bring

We are working on an exciting project encompassing node.js, JavaScript, MongoDB with some React thrown in for good measure, and so you’re going to need to bring at least two years of previous experience of these with you.  You’re also going to need to have worked in an agile environment and have participated in all phases of a project lifecycle with an emphasis on quality.  If you have previous experience of developing for Sage then great, but don’t worry if you haven’t – an understanding of other business systems will be fine.

You’ll have a good understanding of development and technology and how this has evolved over recent years and an understanding of a variety of architectures and best practices.

Our engineers are problem solvers, coming up with creative solutions to challenging problems.  You must be passionate about your work with a desire to make a real difference for our customers and their business.

We want team players, people that are willing to support their colleagues, facing challenges as a team and delivering success as a team.  We care about what we do and we want like-minded people to join us on our journey.

What we offer in return

This role offers an opportunity to be either home based or office based if you live within commuting distance to either our Warrington or Leeds offices.  If home based, you’ll only need to visit the office two to three times a month for meetings, training and catching up with the team.

As well as a competitive salary and home working, this role gives you the opportunity to build your knowledge and skills, discover and work with new tech, and be part of a team that has decades of experience in product development, design and management.

You’ll be working in a talented team headed up by Tim Purcell who is passionate about delivering successful projects that deliver real business transformation, achieving the seemingly impossible every day.
