A long term digital solution
Sage 200 provides a contemporary system while meeting digital requirements
15th December 2020
We are excited to announce our new deal with Shand Engineering Limited and spoke to Finance Manager Katie Bellamy about their enthusiasm in moving to Sage 200.
It was time to make the move
Shand Engineering Limited is an established manufacturer of specialist marine hose end connections and ancillary products.
Before making contact with Datel, the company was struggling with outdated software, which was heavily focused on the manufacturing side of the business with limited focus on the financial requirements. They needed a solution that was less restrictive, but also something which is compliant with new Making Tax Digital requirements set by HMRC.
“We do a lot of capacity planning, material planning and scheduling all in Excel. Because our software is so restrictive, we can't actually get it to do what we need it to.”
Removing the reliance on spreadsheets across the business operations is a focus for the project and will bring benefits such as real-time information, less errors and improved processes.
A trusted software provider
Katie has previous experience with Sage line 50, however, it was after a demo with Tom that Katie could see the capabilities of Sage 200, adding, “you could see instantly that it was going to be far more advanced than what we're currently using.”
Katie is also reassured by the authority Sage has, and particularly the support offered by Datel, and sees the relationship being a long term one. Currently still in the scoping stage, Shand Engineering Limited needs to update their IT hardware before making the move over early next year. Then it’s a case of testing and user training, with the team at Datel working closely alongside to ensure a smooth transition.
