Anpario wins Sage’s ‘Giving Back: Community Business Hero’ award.

7th July 2021

We are so proud to announce that Datel customer, Anpario, has received the Giving Back: Community Business Hero award at this year’s Sage Sessions event. The event celebrated the unsung heroes who go above and beyond, and this particular award recognises Anpario’s generosity to the community during the pandemic. Not only did the company make donations to Nottingham Hospitals Charity and Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals (DBTH), but they also sourced and donated PPE to local care homes when it was difficult to get hold of.

As Sage have the privilege of working closely with accountants, bookkeepers, partners and businesses, they’ve seen first-hand the hard work and dedication that has gone into supporting customers over the past 18 months. The Sage Impact Awards, in partnership with Sage Champions community, recognise the hard work and dedication of those who helped businesses survive and thrive, and will become an annual event after launching this year at their 2021 Sage Sessions event.

The Giving Back - Community Business Hero award was one of eight categories at this year’s event, and celebrates ‘real life superheroes and superhero businesses who have made an impact in their local community’.

Anpario is an international producer and distributor of natural animal feed additives. Their high-performance products are helping to feed a growing population in a world with finite resources. The additives are increasing farming efficiency by reducing the amount of antibiotics needed and improving gut health. Some of the products may be new innovations, but the company itself can be traced back over thirty years. In which time the business has made a name for itself globally, now exporting to over 70 countries with offices all over the world. But interestingly, 99% of their manufacturing is done from one single site in Nottingham.

The Group has big aspirations, and despite the pandemic, continued its global expansion throughout 2020 by opening new operations in Europe and investing further in production automation. Anpario recently announced their best ever year, increasing profits by 22%, despite the challenging circumstances for the world. In a recent interview with our Marketing Team, Marc Wilson, Group Finance Director, explained that the beginning of lockdown coincided with their busiest ever period in production, but they were able to continue to produce despite the difficult conditions. He acknowledged that their swift implementation of COVID-19 response plans and positive company culture were to thank for that. When staffing difficulties arose, they had many volunteers from different teams nominating themselves to help fill gaps.

“We have been keen to keep the team safe and at home where possible, and due to some people needing to isolate we were at risk of running into production issues. But thankfully everyone’s been happy to pitch in wherever needed to keep things moving and we have not lost a single days production.”

Due to everyone pulling together, as a business Anpario never had the need to accept any government support and hasn’t taken their fortunate position for granted when they’ve witnessed what’s been happening in the world. From day one of the pandemic, Anpario has felt a strong desire to help their local community in any way they can. Where they knew their products wouldn’t be useful donations for the situation, they knew money and equipment towards Coronavirus health care would be.

So Anpario made sizable donations to Nottingham Hospitals Charity and Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals (DBTH), knowing it will help towards taking care of the people in their local area. They also acknowledged the UK shortage of PPE equipment and used their contacts to source and donate PPE to local care homes - so that both staff and residents could feel protected and less anxious.

Congratulations Anpario on receiving a very well-deserved award!
