Schloetter partners with Datel for Sage X3 Implementation

Schloetter, a global supplier of products and processes for the surface finishing industry, has chosen to implement Sage X3 from Sage Business Partner, Datel, to help increase business efficiency within its UK operation.
 
Set up in 1969, the UK subsidiary of Schloetter is a well-established manufacturer of plating chemicals and specialist paints and is part of an international group of Schloetter companies. Following a recent change in leadership, Schloetter has ambitious plans to grow its paint business in the UK and wanted to review its current business management system as a result.
 
Schloetter had been using the same system to manage its finances and sales and purchase order processing for over 20 years, during which time it was not updated. One of the key challenges was that it did not interface with the bespoke system in place for managing stock levels during manufacturing, which caused issues when allocating batches of raw materials. This resulted in a number of inefficiencies, highlighting the need for a fully integrated enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.
 
Emma Stamps, Finance Director at Schloetter, said: “We have had the same finance system for many years. It had not evolved to meet our changing needs, meaning that in recent years the business has had to increasingly work around the system, instead of us having a system that works around the business.
 
“Once the problem was identified, we looked at several different software solutions before shortlisting two, including Sage. From the beginning of the process we included the employees that would be working closely with the system, to ensure they would be happy with the final decision.”
 
Stamps continues: “We had several demonstrations of the shortlisted software, and Sage X3 seemed to be the best fit for Schloetter. We found that it had superior functionality to the others we looked at, and we all agreed that it would be the best option for everyone involved. Using a single system will remove a number of our existing frustrations and, as an enterprise solution, we are confident that it will continue to meet our requirements as the business grows.
