Big decisions call for a diligent process
Sage X3 provides the solution for a rapidly growing company – Totalmobile Limited
As a software company themselves, Totalmobile had high expectations from their new business wide system. We spoke to Transition Manager Alan Ledlie about the company’s ambitions and why they decided to make the move to Sage X3.
Totalmobile is a market leader in field service management software, helping their customers deliver more services, of the highest quality and at a reduced cost. The organisation is growing at a significant rate and has made some exciting acquisitions during 2019. However, adding additional companies, each with their own systems and processes is much more difficult to manage. What Totalmobile needed was one system, to improve visibility and pave the way for the future.
“We had an in house system running, plus two new organisations on different finance systems, the idea was to consolidate under one best of breed solution.”
It was a big investment and important to get right, so the team from Totalmobile made sure to attend the ERP Head to Head event and get a feel for different service providers. After meeting at the event, it was decided that Datel would be shortlisted and invited to respond to the Request for Proposal (RFP) process. “It’s important for there to be a rigorous buying process in order to make the right decision around new systems that meet our future requirements. Sage X3 has some exciting features that we wouldn't have known about without the RFP round”.
The RFP from Datel was thorough, and after a demo day with the sales team to see the system in more detail, Totalmobile’s procurement process resulted in a recommendation to the board for Sage X3 and Datel over the other solutions evaluated. They also selected Datel’s private cloud hosting, avoiding the need for their own data centre.
“I like the way Datel approaches delivery. Describing the solutions, workshops, and then moving onto configuration with plenty of walk-throughs.”
A look to the future
In Sage X3, Totalmobile found a future-proof system to move with them as they continue to grow and further establish themselves as the UK leading provider of Field Service Management technology. The ability to slice and dice data was therefore a big selling point for Alan and the rest of the evaluation panel, making it easy to create reports for potential investors.
