Vitaflo saves time and avoids needless data entry with Fusion Carrier Connect

At the forefront of developing specialised clinical nutrition products, Datel customer Vitaflo aim to create products that combine the best of cutting-edge research with the lifestyle demands of modern living. They continue to develop products for Inborn Errors of Metabolism (IEM), nutrition support, and for disease specific conditions such as renal disease.

After looking at their courier costs and assessing the markets that they deliver to, Vitaflo decided to move to DPD for some of its courier services. In order to seamlessly move from their current courier to DPD, the business needed to implement a replacement for their old ODBC system, and opted for Fusion Carrier Connect.

The implementation of Fusion has allowed the business to:

  • Move to an additional courier without disruption to the business

  • Seamlessly integrate its Warehouse Management System with the separate despatch system

  • Completely rid the manual intervention of data entry between the two systems

The Challenge: Time-wasting data entry as a result of changing courier

As the business’s previous ODBC connection was not suitable for use with DPD deliveries, it needed to look for alternate solutions. In order to move to DPD whilst avoiding manual data-entry, the business needed to implement a new system.

The Solution: Introduce Fusion Carrier Connect

Vitaflo decided to integrate Fusion Carrier Connect into the business to handle delivery tracking, working with Datel to implement the system. The implementation of Carrier Connect was gradually phased into the business to ensure a smooth transition. A phased implementation meant that the business was able to get used to the system and raise any issues before going live across its full customer range.

The Outcomes: Avoiding needless data-entry to maximise time-efficiency

Vitaflo’s current warehouse management system allows the business to pick, pack, despatch, and ‘confirm load’ when packages have gone. Data exchange then sends the despatch file to Sage 200 to perform the Allocation and Despatch routines. So that there’s no manual intervention at all, with Carrier Connect the Sage 200 despatch table is interrogated on a schedule to check for new shipments and the data imported to Carrier Connect then tracking the business’s deliveries. The flexibility of the system means that Vitaflo are not only able to seamlessly use DPD as its current courier, but the business is able to use additional couriers in the future too.

Speaking of his experience of working with Datel, Alan Walker, Facilities Manager at Vitaflo, commented;

“Working with Kelly from Datel was excellent, she was very responsive. She logged into our system remotely and was able to do all the work for us, resolving any issues that arose very quickly. The implementation process was very smooth and only took about a month to complete. I really can’t fault the service and support from Datel.”
