What ambition means to Alan Simpson
For Datel's executive chairman, Alan Simpson, leaving his job to start his own business in 1981 was in his words "a big step" - but his ambition gave him the confidence to create a progressive technology business.
And he’s never looked back since, instead looking forward to the future of Datel and how it can continue to build on his original his vision from over 30 years ago: to help businesses throughout the UK reach their goals using Sage software, whatever they may be.
That was Alan's goal then, but that ambition has grown and evolved alongside Datel, as Alan discusses in the video below.
What does ambition mean to you?
Alan's drive and determination has brought his vision to life - now we'd like to hear your story. We're running a competition to find Britain's most ambitious business and the winner will receive a promotional video showcasing their business ambition, courtesy of Datel.
No two ambition stories as the same. Yours might be about how you have grown your own business and the challenges you overcame to make it happen, or it might be about where your aspirations will take your business in the future. Whatever it is, we want to hear about it.
Our competition is now closed and we have announced our winner. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact a member of the team.
Datel's Ambition Competition
Datel has been inspired by Sage's Ambassador and the 1,000 businesses we work with who display ambition every day. Read more on why we want to hear your story.
Boodles Managing Director Michael Wainwright and Marketing Director James Amos talk about their ambition and what matters to them as they focus on the future of their aspirational brand.
