Datel has joined G-Cloud to provide money-saving Sage technology to the public sector.

What is G-Cloud?

TheUK Government G-Cloud is an initiative aimed at making it easier for public sector bodies in departments of the United Kingdom Government to procure information technology services that us cloud computing. The G-Cloud includes an online store known as the Digital Marketplace, which allows public sector bodies to search for services that are covered by the G-Cloud frameworks.

Sage and G-Cloud

CEO of the Sage Group, Stephen Kelly, is a champion of G-Cloud, and previously worked for the United Kingdom Government. He joined the Cabinet Office in 2011 and worked under Francis Maude, whose signature policy had been G-Cloud.

During his time working with the government, Kelly negotiated new IT contracts worth millions of pounds with a number of digital technology heavyweights.

In 2016, Datel became the first and only Sage Business Partner to join the UK Government’s G-Cloud initiative.

Datel has a wealth of experience implementing finance and procurement systems in the public sector, increasing efficiency and in many cases, dramatically reducing costs.

Alan Simpson, Executive Chairman of Datel, explains: “When I first met Stephen Kelly, he recommended that G-Cloud would become the primary route for government organisations to review and procure IT systems.

“By browsing G-Cloud entries online, public sector bodies are able to review various systems before selecting the one that is the best and most affordable solution to suit their needs.

“The feedback from our first customer from G-Cloud was very positive, and they definitely found the platform to be an efficient means of sourcing their new finance system.”
